Hell's Kitchen began development in 2011, based on Alicia Keys' own journey. It premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2023 to critical acclaim, lengthening its run before moving to Broadway in 2024, with previews starting March 28 and an official opening on April 20. The show earned 13 Tony Award recognitions in 2024, winning Best Actress in a Leading Role for Maleah Joi Moon and Best Featured Actress for Kecia Lewis. In 2025, it claimed the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
