Originating from Broadway, it’s time for California to laugh their heads off as the musical comedy Book of Mormon will be touring in San Francisco at Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday 28th January 2026.
The witty and sometimes rude and crude musical Book of Mormon follows the story of two Mormon Elders in training to become missionaries – Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who are tasked with a mission to a remote village in Uganda to convert its residents. The play deliberately satirizes faith in general through the eyes of the pair, as Cunningham comes up with fact mixed with fiction to teach religion to the locals.
The Book of Mormon was created by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the same creators of the cartoon TV series South Park and the Broadway play Avenue Q.

If you’re keen on a night stuffed to the brim with tap, swing, jive, schmaltz, slapstick, anthems, ballads, and laments in a good way, The Book of Mormon is for you!
What happens when two Mormons of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints try ringing a doorbell in a Ugandan village only to find that doors in Africa don't have bells and that the people have no time for divine powers because they are captive in a world of famine, HIV/AIDS, child-molestation and oppression?
There’s a reason why The Book of Mormon sent Broadway off its rocker, and knocked the West End out of its orbit. The creators of the legendary South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Avenue Q’s Robert Lopez are the masterminds behind the smash-hit musical.
After opening on Broadway in 2011, The Book of Mormon gained much critical acclaim and The success of The Book of Mormon spawned countless performancesworldwide.
