REVIEWS

“Joy.There it is! A one-word review. Perhaps one could add bliss, fulfilment, laughter and awe.” – The Barefoot Review

The musical is considered one of Broadway’s biggest success stories due to incredible reception from the public. That alone attests to the musicals’ outstanding legacy in the theater scene. Professional theater critics were also quick to send their best and glowing reviews. The Arts Hub can’t help but be awed by the stunning production, “Audiences are treated to near constant set transitions, oodles of illusions impossible to figure out, pyrotechnics, exceptionally well-utilised projections and lighting design that enables all of the above to appear seamless and magical.”

Over at the Sydney Morning Herald, the publication highlighted how the Australian production of Beauty and the Beast gained a standing ovation halfway into the show. “The actual impression, however, is of an abundance of human talent, live on stage and with nowhere to hide. To the main cast add a brilliant ensemble of high-kicking, tap-dancing, can-canning dancers, as well as a lavishly large live orchestra.” The writer went on to add, “It’s a beast of a show, to be sure, but it’s hard not to fall in love with it.”

In London, the production is lauded for its amazing visuals. “Genuinely, it is one of the most visually impressive shows I’ve ever seen: even Meyer’s painted backdrops are gorgeous, and that’s to say nothing of the woodcut-style projection of wolves, the gasp-inducing quick changes and the beautiful 3D sets, most notably the dreamy tunnel of night blossoming pink roses,” TimeOut says.

Lastly, the Barefoot Review had nothing but great words for the music, “Joy.There it is! A one-word review. Perhaps one could add bliss, fulfilment, laughter and awe.”
